SM Series Dismounted Plate Heat Exchanger
The SM series dismounted plate heat exchanger uses corrugated stainless steel plates clamped in a frame with food-grade gaskets. Compared with shell-and-tube exchangers, it delivers far higher heat transfer efficiency in a compact footprint — and the plate pack can be fully opened for cleaning, inspection, gasket replacement, or capacity expansion. How a Dismounted Plate Heat Exchanger Works
Corrugated plates, gasketed frame, counter-current flow
The heat exchanger consists of a set of corrugated stainless steel plates hung on a carrying bar and clamped between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate. Gaskets seal the channels and direct the two media into alternating channels, flowing in counter-current for maximum thermal driving force.
The chevron corrugation pattern creates turbulence even at low flow velocities. Turbulence thins the boundary layer on the plate surface, dramatically increasing the heat transfer coefficient while keeping fouling low — the two effects that make plate exchangers 3-5 times more thermally efficient than shell-and-tube designs of the same duty.
Because the unit is dismountable, the plate pack can be opened at any time for mechanical cleaning, plate inspection, or gasket replacement — and additional plates can be installed later if the heat load grows. This makes the SM series the economical long-term choice for applications where scaling, fouling, or future expansion are concerns.
